KEVIN FITZGERALD BIOGRAPHY
Kevin Fitzgerald has been painting for over 30 years. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1953, Fitzgerald was drawn to painting from early childhood. He started taking drawing classes at the Corcoran School of Art in 1970 while attending high school. In 1973 he attended Maryland Institute, College of Art where he received his B.F.A. in 1977. In 1978 Fitzgerald began work on his MFA under full fellowship at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. During this time, he restored a fifty-four foot barge, converting it into a floating studio. He completed his graduate studies while making paintings on the Patuxent River and surrounding southern Maryland countryside, graduating in 1982.
Fitzgerald’s interest in painting is rooted in the works of masters from the 15th to the 20th century and their relationships to current forms. The artist has participated in numerous one person and group shows and his work is included in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, England and Germany.
Fitzgerald resides with and is inspired by his wife, Wendy, and their four children on Maryland’s eastern shore.
